BIOGRAPHY b.1950- Born and raised in Northern Michigan in the 50’s and 60’s, I grew up in an active arts and crafts environment. I began painting in acrylic and drawing with pen and ink in the early 60’s. In 1968, I attended the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale, studying Commercial Art while continuing to draw, paint and sell my work. In the late 60’s I worked on large format acrylic abstracts and plein air landscapes. Numerous works are in private collections across the country.
ARTISTS STATEMENT In July 2017, I decided to return to very small pieces as I had done in earlier years with pen and ink. This afforded me the ability to explore movement in nature from a music and science perspective…I call this series “Mountain Corals”. I changed my approach entirely, palette knives replacing brushes. My medium is acrylic. The rhythms and forms of our seen and unseen world have consistently been my muse.
